Administrative Structure

(a) Establishment of operating administrative structure: The operating administrative structure is to be established under the supervision of a COE Steering Committee headed by the COE leader. COE operations will be undertaken efficiently by the following groups: (1) the Operation Planning Group, (2) the Information Advertisement Planning and Implementation Group, (3) the Education Planning and Implementation Group, (4) the Research Planning Group, and (5) the Self-inspection and Evaluation Group. For effective operation of this administrative structure, the COE will be housed in the new facility.

(b) Establishment of rigid evaluation system: In addition to self-evaluations and organizational evaluations by the Graduate School of Engineering (Osaka University), a rigid evaluation system is to be established, which is based on a peer-review evaluation by a third-party committee comprised of external experts.

(c) We will promote collaborations with university/industry joint research chairs, named "Materials Manufacturing Technology Unit" in order to enhance interactions with the companies for industrializations of the seed results obtained in the research programs and for feedbacks of industrial needs.

(d) We will actively hire young researchers trained throughout our 21st Century COE Program (Phase I) as program representatives for Global COE (Phase II).
